Background
HDAC8 (Histone Deacetylase 8) is responsible for the deacetylation of lysine residues on the N-terminal part of the core histones (H2A, H2B, H3 and H4). Histone deacetylation gives a tag for epigenetic repression and plays an important role in transcriptional regulation, cell cycle progression and developmental events. Histone deacetylases act via the formation of large multiprotein complexes. Also involved in the deacetylation of cohesin complex protein SMC3 regulating release of cohesin complexes from chromatin. May play a role in smooth muscle cell contractility.
Application Notes
Recombinant HDAC8 is suitable for use in histone deacetylase (HDAC) assays. It can also be used to study enzyme kinetics, inhibitor screening, and selectivity profiling.
Specific Activity: 300 pmol/min/μg.
Protein Details
Full length recombinant human HDAC8 was expressed in a baculovirus expression system (accession number NM_018486) with a C-terminal His-Tag. The molecular weight of the protein is ~46.4 kDa.
Storage
Recombinant proteins in solution are temperature sensitive and must be stored at -80°C to prevent degradation. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles and keep on ice when not in storage.
